About 10 years ago, we were on the other side of the fence in surplus funds. We worked in governmental agencies that processed these accounts. At first it didn’t register what was happening. It wasn’t until a colleague of mine quite innocently informed me about Escheating and that billions of dollars of surplus funds were being absorbed annually by governmental agencies.

That didn’t sit well with me and several other of my coworkers. One evening while we were enjoying dinner together, someone suggested that we should do something about this situation of Escheating. That’s how it started.

We did some research and discovered that there are procedures in place for people to apply for their surplus funds and recover them.
